Winter Weather

During periods of snow or severe winter weather, all North Vancouver School District schools will remain open whenever possible.

If a district-wide closure is necessary, the decision will be announced by 6:30 a.m. at the latest through:

  • The North Vancouver School District and school websites

  • SchoolMessenger email and text notifications

  • Local television and radio stations

Getting to School Safely

Student safety is our highest priority and a shared responsibility. Families are responsible for deciding whether it is safe for their child to travel to school based on the conditions in their neighbourhood.

Students who are unable to attend because of severe weather will not be penalized. Please report your child’s absence through the school’s regular absence-reporting process.

Please allow extra travel time, use caution around the school, follow any temporary parking or traffic restrictions, and ensure your child arrives dressed appropriately for cold, wet or snowy conditions.

Families are encouraged to have an emergency plan in place in case school opening is delayed, the school closes or students need to be dismissed early.
